About the Editor
Ted Heck is a travel writer and Europhile who
worked in Germany after World War II as a sports consultant to the
U. S. Army and a play-by-play announcer in football and basketball
for the Armed Forces Network. He returns every year and has had
skiing adventures in more than 200 alpine resorts. For him being
truly in love with snow is a big switch from 63 years ago,
when he was a highly decorated platoon leader and company commander
with the 70th Infantry Division. He fought under terrible
conditions in the snow-covered Vosges Mountains of Alsace-Lorraine.
A retired executive in international marketing,
he is now a full-time travel and ski writer. He writes a weekly
column for the Harrisburg Patriot News in
Pennsylvania and contributes to
OnTheSnow.com,
the world’s oldest and largest winter sports website. Many
resorts described in The Blue Book have spotlights that Ted
originally wrote for
OnTheSnow
and
Yahoo.com.
Ted is also a
contributor to Jax Fax Travel Marketing magazine and many other
publications. He is a member of North American Snowsports
Journalists Association and the Society of American Travel Writers.
