Purpose built resort is comprised of 3 village-sections on 3 separate levels. Arc 1600 the lowest section is followed by Arc 1800 which now makes up the main village, and then Arc 2000 higher up the mountain. Access is from the center of the village of Bourg St. Maurice on a funicular or by auto via a winding mountain road.

By Train: From Chambery, resort is 8 miles from RR station at Bourg-St.-Maurice; funicular to Arc 1600

The connection between La Plagne and the resorts of Peisey-Vallandry and Les Arcs is called "the world's most prestigious cable car," a double-decker, carries 200 passengers between Peisey and LaPlagne in four minutes. The link now affords skiers a domain with 263 miles of skiing terrain and 169 lifts.
