Oberstdorf where the World Nordic Championships were held in 1987 is the leading wintersports resort of the Allgäu Region of southern Germany. Oberstdorf is popular with natives as a ski, spa and holiday resort. Proximity to Austria’s Kleinwalsertal area adds to the continental ambiance.
