Under the administration of the Bláfjöll Ski Park Committee, which is comprised of 13 towns & counties, plus 2 sports clubs, Fram and Armann, 5 different areas of Bláfjöll have been connected. While the skiing is more for novice and intermediates, it does provide Reykjavik with a day area. Services are limited, but the area is only a half hour outside of town. This is the country's largest ski area.

Vertical: 270 m (886 ft)

Terrain: Groomed beginner and intermediate terrain encompassing 5 different areas; all slopes are lit for night skiing

Lifts: 15

Types: 1 gondola; several chair lifts, 9 surface lifts

Lift Capacity: 8,100 p/h

Ski Season: Mid-November—May

Summer Skiing: Glacier skiing at Vatnajokull, April-Oct.; Tele (354) 97-81503

Cross Country: 3, 5, and 10 km courses; 5 km trail is lit for night skiing

Mountain Restaurants: Service Center at midpoint in the area has hot snacks or brown bag acceptable; 2 other on-mountain huts have food service

Other Winter Activities: Hiking; hikers can take lift at Kongsgil for panoramic sightseeing

Shopping/Services: Restaurants, bars, services in Reykjavík; rentals, 1st aid, and food service at area

Closest provincial City: Reykjavík
