Hemsedal is called "The Scandinavian Alps" because of rugged mountains surrounding the village. A favorite spot for recreational activities and skiing. Good skiing conditions and grooming. Good restaurants, nightly dancing, active après-ski, gift and sport shops. A full range of accomodations adds to Hemsedal's popularity.

Hemsedal hosted a World Cup Downhill in 1990. A favorite mountain for recreation activities and skiing because of slope grooming and its good ski conditions. Nightly dancing, active aprée-ski, gift shops and sport shops, plus a full range of accommodations make this resort a popular duo with Geilo.
