Kvitfjell lies in Ringebu, which is an outstanding touring area. It was the site of the 1994 Olympics men's and women's downhill, downhill combined and Super G. It has a World Cup event every year. Kvitfjell has grown since the Winter Games and now is one of the leading ski areas in Norway.

Terrain: Something for everybody, every level of ability. 7 green slopes, 4 blue, 4 red, 3 black. The downhill, reportedly one of the world's toughest, was designed by former champion Bernhardt Russi.

Editor Ted Heck had a real treat at Kvitfjell---having skiing legend Stein Eriksen show him around his native country and its Olympic venues. Stein, longtime director of skiing at Deer Valley, Utah, won gold and silver medals in giant slalom and slalom at Oslo in 1952.
