Long ago established as a skiing region for both downhill and cross country, Sälen offers a variety of terrain. The town is well known for its Vasa Ski Race Week which comes at the First Sunday in March. There is a variety of lodging which along with the skiing is spread among several villages and 4 ski resorts. This is considered Northern Europe's largest ski resort.

Terrain: 160 downhill runs, totaling 145 km (90 mi). Runs are 60 green, 31 blue, 31 red, 31 black runs; off-piste skiing and halfpipes
