(French speaking region) Les Diablerets combines cruising terrain on a glacier, nearly two miles high, with some ebony-black routes down to the village.

Elevation: Base: 1,200 m (3,936 ft); Top: 3,000 m (9840 ft)

Vertical: 1,800 m (5,904 ft)

Terrain: 65 km (38 mi) of local downhill runs; 125 km (75 mi) when combined with Villars 50% beginner, 42% intermediate, 8% advanced

Skiing Circus: Connects by chairlift with Villars and Gryon; By bus with Leysin, Glacier 3000 and Les Mosses

Lifts: 24 in Diablerets and on glacier; 45 in region that also includes Villars/Gryon

Ski Season: December-April

Summer Skiing: On the Glacier 3000 from mid-June to end of July, and from October on, depending on snow conditions. Ski, snowboard, snowpark and halfpipe

Cross Country: 30 km (19 mi) in resort, including skating tracks; 25 km (16 mi) of winter walking trails; 15 km (9 mi) of snowshoe trails

Ski School: 50 instructors, all disciplines

Best Deal: Pension-type bed and breakfast can be as low as 30 Swiss Francs in low season. Weeklong packages with half-board and lifts are from 921 SF in a one-star to SF 1,593 in a four-star hotel. Reservations through tourist office
