German-speaking region, Samnaun is another ski resort in Switzerland where a skier may want a passport in the parka. It connects across miles of snowfields with Ischgl in Austria. Part of the largest ski area in the eastern Alps, Samnaun is the only tax-free resort in Switzerland.

Lifts: 40 in the Silvretta Arena shared with Ischgl, including 2 cable cars, 3 gondolas, 21 chair lifts, 14 surface lifts. On Samnaun side is a huge 180-passenger, double-deck cable car.
